Vacancies

Deputy Manager  (January 2023)

We are seeking a Deputy Manager to join the Pre-School team. As well as working as a team member in the setting, the successful candidate will work with the Manager on various management and administration tasks, taking responsibility for some aspects of the Pre-School. As Deputy Manager, the successful applicant will deputise for the Manager in the event of the Manager’s absence.

The successful applicant should have a relevant qualification (Teaching, NVQ level 3 in Child Care and Education, or equivalent). Relevant management or supervisory experience is desirable but not essential.

It is expected that the successful applicant will become a Key Person with a group of children attending the morning sessions. After a period of training and familiarisation, the successful candidate would be expected to Supervise two sessions a week and the details of this can be discussed at interview. Morning sessions run from 9.00am to 12.00noon and staff hours are 8.45am to 12.15pm, allowing some time to set up before and clear up after the session. Afternoon sessions run from 12.30pm to 3.00pm with staff hours 12.15pm to 3.15pm. Pre-School is open for 38 weeks per year.

The hours for this post are negotiable up to 32.5 hours per week during term time. Part-time work is possible with at least 4 morning or afternoon sessions per week being worked to become familiar with the staff, children and arrangements for every part of the work of the setting. With part-time work there is also the possibility of additional hours if needed to cover any absence of the Manager.

The pay is £13.07 per hour worked. In addition, you are entitled to pay at the same hourly rate for each half-termly planning meeting or staff meeting that you attend. You will also be paid for attending certain training sessions if authorised by your Line Manager. Payment for these training events will depend on the length of the training event and will be at the “Training Rate” as advised by your line manager (£10.33 per hour for 2022/23).

As an example, if 30 hours per week were worked, with 38 term time weeks, annual pay including holiday pay would be £16,665

The post is subject to satisfactory references, a Disclosure and Barring Service check and joining the DBS Update Service, and staff must be acceptable to Ofsted who inspect the Pre-School.
